Article 2 (Mayflower Heights Woods) Informational Walk

  • 776 Commercial Street Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

The purchase of 806, 820, 820A, 824, 828, and 832 Commercial Streets (“Mayflower Heights Woods”) offers an incredibly rare opportunity for Provincetown to extend the Provincetown Greenway, a critical wetland and woodland area which serves as the habitat for many species of special concern including the northern bobwhite, box turtles, and dozens of species of migrating birds.

At the Provincetown Town Meeting on November 9th, voters will be asked to approve use of Land Bank Funds to purchase these parcels. Come learn about how important this area is for the protection of flora and fauna and in expanding our town’s natural areas for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The walk is led by PCT President William Mullin and PCT Trustee and Naturalist Dennis Minsky. It will last about an hour. William and Dennis will answer questions about Article 2 on the Town’s Warrant, sponsored by the Open Space Committee, in addition, the walk includes areas which abut the Mayflower Heights Woods including Foss Woods, Maple Grove Bird Sanctuary, and the Old Colony Nature Pathway.

The walk is open to the public. No registration necessary. Parking is limited but available. Directions to our meeting point are below.
