With a unique perspective on the special qualities of living on the Outer Cape, especially opportunities to interact with the natural world, enjoy narratives that contemplate human-wildlife interactions and appreciate the value of nature. Reflect on the challenges of giving back and consider what we owe our wild neighbors in a rapidly changing world.

About Dennis Minsky

Dennis's career as a field biologist began in 1974, at Cape Cod National Seashore, protecting nesting terns and plovers. He also worked for the Park Service in the Everglades and Big Cypress Preserve, and in southern California for various state and federal agencies. After earning a master’s degree in Biology, he taught Environmental Science in New Jersey for 20 years, returning to the Cape each summer to work for the Center for Coastal Studies, Art’s Dune Tours, and the Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch, where he is still employed as a naturalist.

Dennis Minsky’s writings have appeared on the Cape Cod Notebook segment of WCAI and have been published in the Year-Rounder column in the Provincetown Independent and in the Provincetown Arts magazine. He has been a resident of Provincetown since 1968 and returned fulltime in 2005. Since then, he has been active in the Provincetown Conservation Commission, the Open Space Committee, the Community Preservation Committee, the Tree Advisory Group, and the Provincetown Conservation Trust.
