Shank painter pond project

The Conservation Trust, under the leadership of Celine Gandolfo, preserved 7.5 acres on Shank Painter Pond in 1999 (trails were later added in 2001). A 7-lot subdivision was preempted in order to preserve this special area for wildlife and visitors. Provincetown Conservation Trust and the State helped the town of Provincetown raise $1.6 million for the purchase.

This Wildlife Sanctuary is important to Provincetown’s ecosystem. The Conservation Trust continues to work to preserve private abutted land along the pond area.

The PCT continues to donate Corks to Trees money to a town dedicated fund which will continue to plant native trees and shrubs and restore damaged land here.
